Melting Furnaces for Investment Casting and Precision Foundries

Small and medium furnaces with fast heat-up and tight temperature control for shell casting of stainless steel, superalloys and precision components.

Investment casting pours small quantities of expensive alloy into pre-heated shells within a short window. The furnace has to hit tapping temperature exactly, at the moment the shell is ready, without a long ramp that oxidises the melt.

Our precision casting furnaces reach 1,600 °C from cold in minutes with ±3 °C control, so the pour is scheduled around the shell rather than around the furnace. Argon purge chambers are available for reactive alloys and vacuum induction melting where cleanliness is specified.

What This Industry Has to Solve

The three problems that decide whether an installation in this industry pays for itself or becomes a maintenance liability.

01

Hitting the pour window

Fast heat-up and closed-loop temperature control mean the melt is ready when the shell is, instead of the shell waiting and cooling on the furnace.

02

Oxidation of reactive alloys

Argon purge chambers on the small furnaces and full vacuum induction melting on the VIM range keep aluminium, titanium and rare earth additions in the melt rather than in the slag.

03

Small batches, frequent alloy changes

Crucible melting with a lift-out or tilting pour makes an alloy change a crucible swap rather than a lining rebuild.

The configurations we most often specify for investment casting operations.
