Industry Application

Induction Melting and Reheating for Mini-Mills and Rolling Plants

Melting furnaces and continuous induction reheating lines for billet, rebar and section rolling operations, sized to your caster and mill throughput.

A mini-mill needs melting capacity matched to the caster and the rolling mill downstream, plus a reheating line that can hold temperature against a variable rolling schedule. Undersize either and the whole plant runs at the pace of the bottleneck.

We supply melting stations with 12-pulse rectification on the larger power supplies, plus continuous induction reheating for billet before rolling. Plant layout, transformer sizing and grid compliance are worked out at the quotation stage, not after the order — and if your required capacity is above our standard range we will say so rather than quote it anyway.

What This Industry Has to Solve

The three problems that decide whether an installation in this industry pays for itself or becomes a maintenance liability.

01

Grid compliance at high power

12-pulse rectification and medium-voltage input keep harmonic distortion within IEEE 519 limits without external filters, which matters where the utility enforces a connection agreement.

02

Matching melt rate to the caster

Capacity, power and the number of furnace bodies are sized against your caster and mill throughput so metal arrives at the right rate rather than in surges.

03

Reheat against a variable rolling schedule

Multi-zone reheating lines track mill speed automatically, holding billet temperature when the mill slows instead of overheating stock in the coil.
